Let There Be Peace on Earth

Swami Sri Atmananda Posted on February 22, 2017 by SevaJuly 26, 2024

[Swamiji’s concluding remarks on the final day of the Chaturveda Yajna, 10 February. Below is the 26-minute audio recording, followed by the text of a clarified version that Swamiji edited after the event. This is a revised version of the original post.]

Blessed Divine Beings, great mahatmas, saints and seers!

On the concluding day of the Chaturveda Yajna I am prompted to share with you the purpose for which I decided to organize this yajna for the first time in Kali Yuga. I have tried to strictly follow the guidelines of the Vedas. During the last 5000 years nowhere on Earth a complete Veda Yajna was performed. This is the reason not only the knowledge but also how to perform Veda Yajna is lost to mankind.

I accepted the responsibility to conduct the Chaturveda Yajna after receiving a divine command. Except for a few devoted and pious souls, I have not asked for any financial support from anyone to organize this yajna. Rajasuya Chaturveda Yajna is not performed with the wealth of kings and emperors, nor with raising money on a mass scale. It is supported by the voluntary participation and spontaneous contribution of all. This is the reason why in spite of facing tremendous financial constraint and hardship, I did not allow public donations to be raised nor approached wealthy businessmen to collect money for this yajna.

One of the main purposes of Chaturveda Yajna is to give back Veda to mankind. Veda, the sacred sound, was revealed for mankind. It was not revealed for a man or a woman. When Veda was revealed, there was no country, no continent anywhere in this planet, there was no nationality, no religion, no culture, no tradition, because Veda is prior to all. It is prior to all the gods we are invoking and worshipping in this yajna pendal, prior to all seers and avatars. When Veda was revealed there was only the Absolute, the Brahman, the pure awareness.

Due to ignorance it is wrongly assumed that Veda is a Hindu scripture but truly speaking Veda is the revealed words and it is for the whole mankind. A myth has been perpetuated for thousands of years, especially after the decline of the Vedic culture, that Veda belongs to India, Veda is the scripture of the Hindus, and only some people, some individuals, have the right to chant Veda, read Veda, and perform yajna. This is a myth that no one dared to challenge. Today I am demolishing this myth. I declare: Veda belongs to mankind. Every human being, irrespective of place of birth, nationality, religion or culture, has a birthright to study Veda, chant Veda and perform yajna.

This is the reason the Chaturveda Yajna is being organized by Satyachetana International Spiritual Movement. It is not done by a Swamiji nor a saint nor a seer. To do this yajna I have received support from the whole Earth, from the entire mankind. I had assured that I would free the Vedamata from the cage of orthodoxy, cut the fetters of the decadent tradition and give Veda back to mankind. For that purpose I conducted the Chaturveda Yajna.

Today is the last day of this Yajna. For nine days, in four Veda kundas, we have performed havana for all the Vedic gods. No one can really tell how many gods are there in the Vedas because there are many, many mantras in the four Vedas where the name of the god is not mentioned since these are addressed to Divine forces.

The purpose of Veda is to guide us, the humans, to have a life of fulfillment on Earth. It is not meant only for brahmins, saints or seers, but also for the common men. In spite of the impact of time, we have preserved the Vedas, the mantras and the texts, through a long tradition of gurukkula parampara. Our Vedic chanters and priests have protected the purity of the mantras. I now request them to support me to revive the spirit of the yajna.

For the first time today we are going to perform the gayatri havana in Brahma kunda where everyone—irrespective of caste, creed and religion—is invited to join with me and chant the gayatri mantra and perform havana in the havan kunda.

I have learnt we human beings suffer in life due to two complexities. One is the superiority complex. The other is the inferiority complex. When someone feels, “I am superior to others,” he is actually acting, thinking and behaving against the spirit of Veda, and when someone thinks, “I am inferior to someone,” he is also similarly acting, behaving and thinking against the spirit of Veda, because Veda says all humans are embodiments of the Brahman only. That is also my realization.

I request those who are having the inferiority complex to overcome this complex. Those having the superiority complex of “I am or we are superior to others,” I request to get rid of this false feeling. No human being is superior or inferior to another human being—this is what Veda declares.

Mankind now needs a rational interpretation of the Vedas. If Veda mantras can be translated correctly as per the spirit of the time, everyone—man, woman, saint, seer—all can feel, “I am the child of Vedamata.”

I will strive until the last breath of my life to restore Veda to its original purity and glory. This is the message I’m giving to all. I appeal to all the saints, seers and priests of India to open the door of Vedamata for the whole mankind, whole humanity. We all are human beings, and we belong to one race: the human race. Today we are inviting the gods and offering oblations, and we are not making any distinction between the gods, whether it is Indra, Agni, Varuna, Rudra or Vishnu, we are not creating a hierarchy of gods. Why should we make any division between human beings? Why should we divide human beings based on religion, culture and skin color?

Veda is the only force on Earth that can not only unite the world, but also promote the welfare of the entire brahmanda. We as human beings carry that responsibility. The time has come. The Satya phase in Kali Yuga has begun. This is the message that I heard from Veda and this is the message I’m giving.

Today, the concluding day of this Chaturveda Yajna, is a great day in human history because today I am freeing Vedamata from the fetters of orthodoxy. Let us break the wall of superstition, break this wall of division. We all are human beings; we all are children of Vedamata. We are not Indians, Asians, Europeans, Americans or Africans. We are human beings and Veda is our mother and together we all should revive and restore the glory of Veda.

Look at the West. The Western world achieved perfection in material science but did not restrict its spread. Technology travelled all over. The whole world benefitted. Let India show to the world that the knowledge of the Vedas also can travel to the whole universe. Secrets of Veda should be available to the whole mankind. If this is done, there will be integration of matter and spirit, and this integration will ensure a new phase of evolution. A new era will dawn when there shall be peace, progress, harmony and unity among all human beings. That is the day for which the gods in heaven are waiting. That is the day for which the seers are waiting. Let us take the resolve today to fulfill this purpose.

This is my appeal to all. I know there are hundreds and thousands of awakened beings in many countries of the world and they are eagerly waiting to know what Swamiji said at the end of the Chaturveda Yajna. I am not speaking to any individual, nor to any country or culture. I’m speaking to the soul of humanity. I’m speaking to the whole universe. Let us take this collective resolve today and actively collaborate with Vedamata to restore her glory, revive her purity.

Today the brahmin priests are sitting in the yajna pendals. They should travel to every country all over the world and spread the message of Veda and teach others how to perform yajna. No human being is untouchable and no one is superior or inferior to another human being. We all are one. We all are sparks of Divine.

This is the message of Veda, this is my realization and this is my resolve. May Vedamata give us the power and the strength and the will and the determination to fulfill this pledge. For the first time in Kali Yuga, in this capital city of Odisha, the place of Lord Jagannath, the real place of Chaturveda, from here let a message go to the world that we all will work together and revive the glorious tradition of the Vedas and create the paradise that is mentioned in the Vedas. It is possible. It is inevitable. All glory to Vedamata. All glory to human aspiration. And all glory to the saints and seers and noble souls of all ages, all religions and all countries.

My humble salutations to you all. Let peace, progress and harmony be on Earth.

The Time Has Come

Swami Sri Atmananda Posted on December 20, 2016 by SevaNovember 12, 2022

Process of the Chaturveda Yajna

The basic concept as per the Vedas is that whatever man needs, everything is already provided by prakriti. Man only has to perform his duties and responsibilities. Duties are ordained by his own nature, whereas responsibilities are allotted by society. If these are fulfilled there will be harmony everywhere.

The problem comes when man does not discharge his duties and responsibilities. Since this is a situation that man has faced in every age, solutions are provided in the Vedas. From the Vedic viewpoint, this entire creation came out of Veda, so for any difficulty that mankind may face, the answer is there in the Veda.

Man’s necessities are usually taken care of in three ways: tantra, yantra and mantra. Tantra is known as occult power. Yantra is machine power, or using equipment. Science is both yantra and tantra. Veda is mantric power. These methods are totally different, and confusion comes when, due to ignorance, people try to compare them with each other. This is like comparing the method of cooking on a wood fire versus cooking with a gas stove. They’re completely different.

Mantra is the best way of solving human problems. In yantric and tantric solutions man needs ingredients from the gross world but with a mantric solution man needs only to create the vibration in the subtle plane. By using the mantras, the yajna creates the necessary vibration that activates the supernatural beings, those who dwell in different planes of existence.

Yajna is a mantric solution to the problems faced by mankind, but yajna is to be differentiated from homa. Homa refers to offering oblations in a small fire pit to invoke the grace of certain supernatural beings called gods, to satisfy the individual need. A priest comes, and chants mantras using certain ingredients. These homas aim at an individual result but yajna has nothing to do with the individual.

Yajna is universal in nature. It aims at solving the individual problem not by catering to the individual needs but by restoring the balance in the universal plane. That is the basic difference. If the elemental balance is restored in the universal, the individual problem will not be there. So one is solving the problem individually; the other is not allowing the problems to occur. Not allowing the problems to occur is yajna. But when the problem has already happened and you are solving it, that is homa.

The yajna we are doing is for restoring the balance of the whole universe in the natural cycle. The object is not that rain may come somewhere, or that there should be enough food for Africa. The yajna has no specific aim. The aim is that the ether and air elements must remain in a vibrated state. If this is happening the problems will not occur.

With the Chaturveda Yajna, change happens in the elemental sphere, and will impact everything on earth— not only the gross life of man but also the subtle thought process of mankind because at the same time we are activating the ether, air, water, fire and earth elements, and these control not only the gross sensory experiences but also the subtle thought process, the chit, of every human being.

The yajna must be performed by the right person, using the right procedure, in the right proportions. Person, procedure, and proportion or precision. Yajnas are performed by rishis, or seers, those who are established in truth consciousness, and we don’t find these people in Kali Yuga. So we may not have the perfect people, and even if the procedure and proportion are not perfect, at least we are doing something.

Since the whole process is already lost to mankind, we are trying to revive it, then next time someone else will do it better, and again someone will improve upon that, and it will keep improving until the original purity gets restored.

Due to impact of time this procedure became diluted, and now it is only done in a mechanical way, but anything done mechanically or ritualistically is not approved by Veda. The mechanical way of doing things means not understanding, not getting involved at heart, and not following the guidelines. Can we guarantee 100% that the result will come from the Chaturveda Yajna? We cannot, because neither we have the right persons, nor we are able to follow the right procedure, nor we can ensure the right precision. Then the question comes, why then we are doing it? Because that’s the only way.

Just as a scientist continues conducting experiments, and even after 10 experiments when the expected result has not come, he keeps trying an 11th and 12th and 13th time, we don’t consider that as a wasted effort, similarly if we are doing something in the Vedic way and the result is not immediately coming, to call that a waste is complete ignorance. Only by making this attempt can we restore the precision, revive the procedure and make the imperfect person a right person.

This upcoming Chaturveda Yajna is the first attempt in 5000 years and we are not actually carrying this out. It is prakriti who is doing it, using us as the instruments. This is the right attitude: “I am not doing, it is getting done.” Prakriti has chosen us, and we are simply doing because she is using us as collaborators.

Even if we ignore prakriti’s call still it will be done because its time has come. To think or say, “I am doing” is the height of ignorance. To say, “It is being done through us” is the sign of wisdom. We are responding to prakriti’s will. The time has come and we are sincerely putting effort with involvement from heart.

Strong First Week for Chariot

Swami Sri Atmananda Posted on December 10, 2016 by SevaJuly 26, 2024

p1050288-1The Ratha Yatra (chariot) is nearing completion of the first week of its 50-day journey through the state of Odisha, India, to promote the upcoming Chaturveda Yajna. In each city the momentum continues to grow, with crowds of devotees greeting the chariot at the outskirts of each destination and escorting it through the streets, dancing and singing and chanting.

The chariot remains in each place for less than 24 hours, arriving to great fanfare in late afternoon or evening, often followed by a talk by Swamiji and leaders from the local spiritual organizations. The chariot team is usually provided with guest lodging, and otherwise sleeps in tents.

The morning schedule continues to be fine-tuned as the team adjusts to life on the road. By 6 am the chanting of the Sri Vishnu Sahasranam and Bhagavad Gita has begun, followed by mini Veda yajna lasting about one hour.

After breakfast, the chariot winds through the streets led by cymbal-playing devotees announcing chariot-2the opportunity to contribute to the Chaturveda Yajna. Prasad (blessed food) is distributed to all, whether or not they put any money into the offering boxes that are carried from door to door on both sides of the street. The momentum of this material support also keeps expanding, with each day’s collections consistently higher than the day before.

National television and state newspapers covered the launch of the chariot, and local media continue to provide daily coverage.

[Click here for details about the Chaturveda Yajna to be held in February 2017.]

Now a time has come when I really need you and your talents to manifest the mission. This yajna is not yours or mine. It belongs to the whole humanity. I am 100% sure this yajna is going to open immense possibilities for mankind and restore the much-needed equilibrium on earth. This is a massive spiritual intervention in the elemental sphere of  our universe and its purpose is to restore the equilibrium of the elemental cycle.

This is truly God’s work and we are collaborators. Some of us are His devotees, some are His companions, some are friends and some are His trusted instruments. Many are like you and they are just waiting to hear the call. Give that call. Let God speak through you. Be the channel to manifest God’s light.  If each one of us  can send the message through our Facebook, Twitter and websites, we can reach millions.

I need your help for this great spiritual task. Please assist in any way that you can think of to involve millions in this rarest work of God. No words of praise or gratitude will be enough to convey our collective blessings and love to you or anyone who will support this rare divine action.

Always we have prayed to God for help. This is the only occasion when God is asking us to assist in His work. Let us join, let us show to God that yes, we are Thine, we are ready. Lead us, guide us and use us for Thy mission.

Through you I send this appeal to whole mankind. Please publicize it widely and forward it  to anyone you know. Please play a proactive role. Time is running out.

Blessings and Love.
